Term 4, Week 2 Newsletter - Monday 11 October 2021
Principal's Report
Dear Parents
Throughout last week Year 11 students aspiring to be official Student Leaders in 2021 took the next step in the selection process by facing the interview panel. Thoughtful and inspirational applications were received, constructing a case for their consideration for the leadership roles. Consultation among staff and students will occur this week leading into decision-making. Announcement of Stage 6 Student leaders will be made shortly and the handover of responsibilities will be linked to the departure of our senior cohort on Oct 28.
On Wednesday we face the final hurdle in the Australian Trade Awards selection process. This involves a forty minute session with the judging panel. Twenty minutes will be our presentation to the judges and twenty minutes will be their questioning and our responses.
The other two finalists are metro-based and purpose built VET establishments, therefore our strength is the communal partnerships that are a key measure in the awards.
This is exciting, challenging and well deserved recognition for work so exceptionally well done in our place.
On the COVID front, please be assured that we take our responsibility for the care of your children very seriously. If you have concerns please make contact at school and we will work through them together.
As was communicated on Friday via Compass, in keeping with the PHO the strategies already in place will continue and include: frequent use of sanitising stations, extra cleaning of public thoroughfares, regular sanitising of work space, stay away from school if unwell or have symptoms of illness, staff members sign in daily via QR code, physical distancing is still a requirement among adults/staff members (and encouraged among students), face coverings /masks for all staff (indoors and outdoors) and secondary students (indoors) (and encouraged among primary students), room ventilation.
Have a great Week 2.

Take a Few For You
Our weekly Take A Few Video reflections will be rolled out via Compass again this week. These short videos provide you as parents and carers with an opportunity to take some time for yourself to recharge and renew. They will be posted on Compass on Fridays.
SPaR on Zoom
With current restrictions in place, we are unable to hold our SPaR (Stop, Pray and Reflect) sessions at school. So instead I’m going to offer them on Zoom each week. The sessions will take place each Wednesday evening at 7:30pm commencing this Wednesday. These sessions are designed just for you as parents and carers to attend to your own spirituality. SPaR Sessions aren’t heavy and are an opportunity for you to catch up with other parents/carers in our school community. I encourage you to make yourself a cuppa and log onto the Zoom meeting. The meeting code, password and instructions are below. If you need any further information or have a better time and day in mind, please contact me via my email address (n.twohill-scott@bth.catholic.edu.au)
Log onto Zoom at https://zoom.us/ Click on join at Meeting. Then put in the following Meeting ID and Password. Meeting ID: 683 3228 0743 Password: 427664
Masses
As you would have read in the Parish Post from Fr Laurie last week, the Bishop has decided that all Masses will not take place until we reach 80% vaccination rates in our state. We haven't been given an exact date yet. We will keep you posted. Until then, Mass will be live streamed from St Raphael’s Cowra each Sunday. Keep your eye for Fr Laurie’s Parish Post for further details.
If you would like anything else to help out during this time, please contact me via email (n.twohill-scott@bth.catholic.edu.au)
