K-6 Wellbeing
We have had a very cold but positive start to Term 3 with much already happening. Students have returned to school remembering St Raphael's respectful learning expectations. In weeks 2 and 3, our focus has been and will continue to be on wearing the correct uniform to minimise excessive jewellery. Students are also being reminded to use bathroom facilities with care, ensuring paper is used wisely and disposed of in the bin.
Fun Friends and Friends for Life Programs have both been completed and we thank Jess and Maddi from CINC who worked with our Primary students to deliver these fantastic sessions.
Garden Club has recommenced with Mrs McNamara meeting enthusiastic green thumbs on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Karen Stuttle from Canowindra High School kindly donated some Silkies to St Raphs, so our chicken coop is once again occupied. We had some very keen helpers to prepare the pen for our new chooks. We also thank Mrs Malcolm for kindly donating the wood shavings that have provided warmth on these cold wintery days. Last week, students had the opportunity to nominate suitable names for our chooks, and this week we will be announcing these new names.
Bunnings kindly donated some seedlings and 5 extra plastic handheld shovels! Thanks to Bunnings, we will now have six small shovels to put to use at once. Cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, silverbeet, beetroot and broadbean seedlings have been planted, fertilised and seem to be taking well. Our green thumbs have also been busy weeding and raking leaves, beautifying our playground.
Passive Play has remained popular for our students who'd prefer to play with lego, or do some drawing. Mr Statham has actioned a roster for the Primary playground to minimise confusion on the field and court spaces and foster harmonious play. We are looking forward to a fantastic Term.
