Yr5 Exc'n to ACT
- 20 Oct 2025 - 21 Oct 2025
Throughout the year, Year 5 have been learning about, ‘Indigenous Culture’, ‘Energy and Forces’, ‘Animal and Plant Adaptations’, ‘Earth and Space’, ‘The ANZACS’ and ‘Early Colonisation’ across our Key Learning Areas. To consolidate our learning and gain hands-on experience of these topics, an overnight excursion has been planned to Canberra. On Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st, October, 2025, Year Five will be travelling to Canberra with Cowra Bus Service for an overnight excursion. The accommodation will be at ‘Canberra Park Accommodation’. Students will participate in activities at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) which includes time in the Sportex room and will visit The Australian War Memorial where they will receive a 45 minute facilitated program called, ‘We Will Remember Them’. The next day, students will attend The National Museum of Australia and will participate in a program called, ‘The Story of Our Country’ followed by a visit to Canberra Deep Space Communication Station. Teachers accompanying Year Five children on the excursion will be Laura Moodie, Allison Buttigieg and Craig Jeffries. Please mark this date on your family calendar. The cost of this excursion is covered through inclusions in the school fees. Please be aware that students must be showing positive behaviour to attend the excursion. Consent to attend the excursion must be completed using compass by Friday 26th October (Week 10). If you have any questions or concerns regarding this excursion please contact your child’s homeroom teacher. We look forward to sharing this educational experience with your child. |
